Walking With the Orishas – Part 4: Dreamwork, Ori, and Sacred Home Cleansing

There’s something sacred about the night.

When the world quiets, the spirit world speaks louder. Your ancestors draw near. Your Ori (your higher self) becomes clearer. And the Orishas, if they’ve been walking with you, might whisper their guidance through dreams, symbols, or sensations that linger long after sunrise.

In this post, we’ll explore:

  • How your Ori speaks through dreams

  • Ways to connect with your ancestors before bed

  • What to keep by your bedside for spiritual clarity

  • A simple, powerful home cleansing ritual using traditional ingredients

Let’s step into the nighttime temple the one behind your eyes.

🌙 Dreams: The Language of Ori and Ancestors

In Yoruba cosmology, dreams are not random. They’re one of the primary ways your Ori, your ancestors, and even Orisha communicate.

Dreams can:

  • Reveal your destiny path

  • Warn you about spiritual misalignment

  • Confirm an Orisha’s presence or guidance

  • Offer ancestral healing or messages

Common Dream Signs and What They May Indicate:

Symbol

Possible Meaning

Water (clear or muddy)

Emotional clarity or blockage—Oshun or Yemaya may be near

Roads / Crossroads

Decisions ahead—Esu may be opening or testing paths

Fire or lightning

Sudden clarity, transformation—Shango energy

Birds (especially doves, vultures, owls)

Ancestors or Oya bringing messages

Speaking with elders

Ancestral communication—listen closely

Tip: Keep a small notebook by your bed and write everything you remember. Even if it feels weird or disjointed spirit speaks in symbols, not sentences.

🛏️ Ritual to Connect with Ori and Ancestors Before Sleep

This 3-step ritual creates a spiritual bridge between the waking world and the dream world. You can begin tonight.

Step 1: Light and Water

  • Place a small white candle near your bed.

  • Place a glass of fresh water next to it.

  • This welcomes ancestors and aligns your Ori with clarity.

Step 2: Speak From the Heart

Say aloud:

“Ori mi, guide me through the night. Let only truth and healing come through my dreams. Ancestors known and unknown, I welcome you with love and respect. Protect me and speak what I need to know.”

Step 3: Listen and Record

The moment you wake up even if it’s the middle of the night write down everything. Colors, feelings, voices, animals, numbers. Your Ori will begin to teach you its language.

🧼 Sacred Home Cleansing: A Traditional Floor Wash for Spiritual Clarity

Your space holds energy. Cleansing your home is as important as cleansing your body. When stagnant or negative energy lingers, it can block messages from your Ori and spirits.

Here’s a traditional-inspired Yoruba-style floor wash using natural ingredients:

🧴 Ingredients:

  • Fresh basil or sage (for clarity and protection)

  • Bay leaves (for wisdom and purification)

  • Florida Water or a splash of coconut water

  • A pinch of sea salt

  • Optional: a few drops of cascarilla (white chalk) or cologne (4711 or Kananga)

🫗 Instructions:

  1. Boil herbs in water. Let steep and cool.

  2. Strain into a bucket. Add the salt and spiritual water.

  3. Wash your floors from the back of your home to the front door, sweeping the energy out as you go.

  4. As you clean, speak or sing:

“May only peace live here. May my ancestors bless this space. May no harm enter. May all be well.”

You can also anoint doorways and windows with a bit of the mixture using your fingers or a white cloth.

🕊️ Closing Words: Your Life Is Your Altar

Spirituality isn’t just in shrines or ceremonies. It’s in your routines, your rest, your respect for your space and your spirit. Dreamwork, home cleansing, ancestral communication these aren’t “extras.” They are essentials.

The more you care for your Ori, the more clearly you walk in your purpose.
