When you hear of cleansing your personal space, the most common herb known to accomplish this is Sage. Did you know that there are many other herbs that you could use to produce the same effects of Sage, and many of them are a lot less expensive?
For instance, one of my herbs of choice is Rosemary. Though I've yet to make a bundle with the two intertwined, I can attest to the greatness and the spiritual elevations I receive from each one individually. Rosemary is an instant mood enhancer and a scent my children are all too familiar with; especially if someone is healing from an illness. Rosemary can be attributed to increasing memory when burned regularly. Natures natural bad vibes repellent, like many of it's herbal cousins; Rosemary is known to absorb and remove negative energy, making it ideal for cleansing. On top of it all, it's antiseptic. Any thing goes with Mary's rose; Rosemary that is.

The act of burning sage and other herbs has been around since the beginning of time. From incense to herbs, the usage varies over time and many cultures. The most commonly used are Palo Santo, White Sage, Rosemary, Frankincense, Mugwart, Dragonblood, and Juniper.
Palo Santo is considered a sacred wood and should be highly respected and only used for specific reasons if merely looking to cleanse or heal, find an alternative provided by nature to ensure the sacredness of Palo Santo. The same applies to White Sage, it would be much easier to grow your own White Sage to keep supplies plentiful, versus attempting to grow a Palo Santo tree, which would mean moving to the Amazon.

While growing your sage is time-consuming, the intentions placed into the nurturing and cultivating the herbs will amplify the results of where your sage is used. Be it, spiritual rituals, cleansing routines, or healing/aromatherapy use. It's ten times better when you grow it yourself and leaves less of an imprint on mother nature if anything; consider it a contribution. If growing White Sage is outside of the realistic boundaries for your life, as mentioned previously, you can consider an alternative herb to get the job done. If more of the world understood smudging for cleansing, replacing Sage and Palo in your routine wouldn't be so difficult, in fact, a switch you may barely even notice. Regardless of the herb used, the act of cleansing the air with smoke from herbs is called smudging.
Smudging is one of the ways to cleanse a space to invite positive energy energetically. When smudging an area, you burn plant material. The smoke fills and purifies the environment. As the smoke ascends, our wishes and intentions rise and mingle into the universe, connecting heaven, earth, and humanity.
Let's say NO Palo and White Sage(unless you grow) and move over to something else. Experiment with a few others and see which one matches your vibes more. For me, Rosemary. Rosemary, in itself, is excellent for making any room harmonic, it promotes progression and forward advancements and also increases intuition. Like sage, Rosemary removes harmful toxins from the air, purifying it. I grow, nurture and use my Rosemary when bundling and making smudges, there's just something about the added intentions that go in to the herbs that amplifies it functions.
~Homegrown White Sage or none at all, we can't be the reason they crumble and fall, into doom-nation.

***Remember while smudging it's a great idea to leave windows and doors open until completed, if possible. As law, what goes up must come down. So whatever smudges remove, shouldn't be lingering around, may it float away in smoke***
